Inductee

In 1958 a band was formed in Sioux City, IA called the Screamers. Soon they changed their name to the Flairs, and again in 1961 to the Velaires. They quickly gained fame and developed a large following in the tristate area with many of their gigs at venues in South Dakota. It wasn't long before they drew national attention and their careers really took off.

They released a song, Roll Over Beethoven, on the Jamie Label and it became a nationwide hit, reaching #51 in the country. They appeared on American Bandstand in 1961 and toured with Dick Clark two years later. The band cut several other 45's and made appearances across the country. They were a "first year" inductee into the Iowa Music Associations, Hall of Fame.
